Kim Quan Safety Zone Relic Complex
(TITC) - Located in Na Loi forest, Khuon Dien Hamlet, Kim Quan Commune, Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province, Kim Quan Safety Zone Relic Complex used to be the residence and work of the Late President Ho Chi Minh, the Late General Secretary Truong Chinh, the Late Deputy Prime Minister Pham Van Dong; the office of the Party Central Committee and other organs of the Party, Government Office during the period of resistance war against French colonial from late 1953 to August 1954.

The most typical relics of Kim Quan Safety Zone Relic Complex include 3 hidden underground bunkers in Na Loi Mountain.

Tunnel and tent of the Late President Ho Chi Minh

The tent where Uncle Ho lived and worked was built according to the stilt house model of the mountainous ethnic minorities. It is beside the 15m-deep tunnel inside Na Loi Mountain.

During working here, the Late President Ho Chi Minh hosted many important meetings such as meeting of the Council of Government on preparation for the participation in Geneva Conference and the issues of military, budget, land reform (15 March 1954); meeting of the Politburo on negotiation at Geneva Conference (May 1954)… Through the meetings, in addition to defining resistance policy, the Late President Ho Chi Minh along with Politburo and the Party Central Committee approved the plans and directly steered major campaigns, especially Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954, contributing to the victory of resistance war against French colonial. He also focused on reinforcing strong rear, promulgating land reform law.

In Kim Quan, in his spare time, Uncle Ho used to fish, write poems and write articles for the press such as Cuu Quoc and Nhan Dan newspapers.

Tunnel of the Party Central Committee

About 1km from the tunnel of the Late President Ho Chi Minh, the tunnel of the Party Central Committee is 60m deep inside the mountain. The hatch and the hall of the Party Central Committee, housing and work of about 40 staffs of the office of the Party Central Committee and other agencies are separated by a small canal.

The Government, the Politburo and the Party Central Committee held several meetings here to decide important issues, contributing to the victory of resistance war against French colonial, namely meeting of the Politburo on rent reduction and land reform (12 December 1953 and 15 – 16 January 1954), meeting of the Council of Government on political, military, diplomatic, economic issues (15 – 16 May 1954), 6th meeting of the Party Central Committee (16 – 18 July 1954)…

Tunnel of the Government

 

From this 40m-deep tunnel inside the mountain, the Late President Ho Chi Minh, the Late Deputy Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and the delegation of the Party Central Committee, the Government went to the Chinese advisory headquarter in Na Ho (Trung Son Commune, Yen Son District) to award the medal of Ho Chi Minh to Mr. La Quy Ba and Mr. Vi Quoc Thanh – Head of the Chinese military and political consultant delegation in Viet Nam. Early March 1954, after the meeting of the Council of Government in the tunnel on preparation for the participation in Geneva Conference, the Vietnamese delegation led by the Late Deputy Prime Minister Pham Van Dong participated in Geneva Conference (Switzerland) discussing on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina.
